Whether you’re a school or a local authority, you’ll know that getting children walking to school is an important part of keeping them active, healthy and independent.Our Walk to School films are designed to help you promote walking, and also give you more information about how the Walk to School campaign can help you.

Schools
Why Walk to School? (8 minutes)
This film is for any school that wants to promote walking and get their children excited about being more active!
Schools can use the film in assemblies or in the classroom, to highlight the benefits of walking to school and how fun it can be. The film is aimed at children and we hope encourage them to either keep walking, or try it out.
A 'Spot Strider' interactive game for children is also included!
If you are a school that uses Walk Once a Week (WoW) resources, then watch the next film down, which explains more about the scheme and how it works.
If you want to order the film on DVD, email us at walktoschool@livingstreets.org.uk - please note that we are limiting schools to 2 copies each to ensure maximum distribution.
Introduction to WoW (10 minutes)
This film is for schools who take part in WoW, or have just started. It is very similar to the above but explains how the WoW scheme works and focuses on the badges and supporting resources as well as the wider benefits of walking to school.
Why WoW works in schools (2 minutes)
This is a very short film for teachers about why WoW works in schools and how it can help meet school targets and other initiatives.

Local Authorities and other professionals
What can WoW do for you? (8 minutes)
This film highlights the importance of walking to school and the WoW scheme and the role they can play in helping you reach your targets whether you are in the health, travel or environment sector.
If you work directly with schools (eg. the School Travel Team) you can order free DVDs to distribute to your schools for them to use in assembly or class. Just get in touch at walktoschool@livingstreets.org.uk (we can only send a maximum of 30 DVDs to each local authority.

Notes on DVD:
The DVDs work with Quicktime, Real Player and Windows Media Player on Windows 7 and XP but we have had some report of difficulties with Vista. If this is the case, you can download VLC Media Player for free, which will enable you to watch the DVD on your computer.
