Walk to School page for parents

Children deserve a safe and clear walk on their way to school. One in five cars at peak hours is on the school run. Parents who drive short journeys to school can make up a large percentage of the rush hour traffic. Think of the noise, the pollution and the congestion that creates - not to mention the danger to pedestrians, especially children.

If you're not a regular walker, why not try it

Some parents who walk, say it is worth it! Siobahn from Middlesex says:
'I have just found your site - fantastic!
I used to drive my little boy to school, it is about a 10 minute walk, but when I drove it could take 20 minutes, due to traffic and trying to find a parking space. We walk in whatever weather and it is a good way of having some quality time with your child. We can find out what he's been doing and it's very sociable. We now speak to and acknowledge other parents. We've got friendly with the lady with the dogs and we feel part of our community - it's also a good bit of exercise!'
